Behind The Scenes

Every Investigation Has a Story. This Is Ours.

History is often presented as a collection of dates, documents, and conclusions.

But every serious historical investigation has another story - one rarely told.

It is the story of unexpected discoveries, forgotten archives, remarkable conversations, dead ends, moments of doubt, surprising breakthroughs, and the quiet determination required to continue searching when the answers remain uncertain.

Behind the Scenes is where we invite you into that journey.

These short video vignettes are not polished documentaries or formal lectures. They are personal conversations from Ben recorded along the way - moments where he shares the experiences, people, discoveries, challenges, and unexpected events that shaped the History Had Eyes investigation over many years.

Some stories explain how a single document changed the direction of the research.

Others explore memorable encounters with historians, archivists, military officers, librarians, intelligence professionals, or family members whose perspectives opened entirely new avenues of inquiry.

Some reveal the excitement of finding a long-forgotten record.

Others describe the frustration of discovering that an important lead had vanished, or the satisfaction of eventually finding it somewhere entirely unexpected.

Many of these stories have never appeared in the books or documentaries because they are not simply part of the historical record. They are part of the investigative journey itself.

Together, they reveal something larger.

History is not discovered only in libraries and archives.

It is discovered through curiosity.

Through persistence.

Through conversation.

Through collaboration.

Through the willingness to ask one more question and follow one more clue.

As History Had Eyes continues to grow, these Behind the Scenes conversations will also document the evolution of a broader vision - one that extends beyond a single historical investigation toward the future of collaborative historical scholarship, documentary storytelling, and public education.

Whether you are interested in the Romanov mystery, historical investigation, documentary filmmaking, archival research, or simply enjoy hearing the untold stories behind an extraordinary journey, we hope these conversations help you experience history in a more personal and meaningful way.

Thank you for joining us behind the scenes.

The story behind the story is often every bit as fascinating as the story itself.
