Episode 07: The Ghosts of Gotham

In The Ghosts of Gotham, the investigation follows the alleged final chapter of Nicholas Romanov's journey in the United States. Drawing on the research presented in Rescuing Nicholas, this episode explores reports that Nicholas quietly lived in New York under Allied protection before the devastating Wall Street bombing of September 16, 1920, changed everything.

Through archival photographs, intelligence references, diplomatic correspondence, and contemporary accounts, we examine whether the bombing, and the uncertainty that followed, forced another secret evacuation. The episode also investigates reports of an unidentified diplomatic passenger departing for Europe, along with persistent rumors linking Nicholas to the Vatican, British royal circles, and religious communities that may have offered refuge.

Although much of this evidence remains circumstantial and continues to be debated, it raises compelling questions about one of history's greatest disappearances. If Nicholas escaped Russia, did he also escape America?
